Saulo Fernández is Associate Professor at the Department of Social and Organizational Psychology at UNED. My work has focused on the study of the consequences of belonging to socially devalued groups. In this domain I have mainly studied how social stigmatization materializes in the daily life of members of socially devalued groups, the consequences for their psychological well-being, and the strategies they employ to manage its socio-psychological consequences. Currently, my research centers on the study of humiliation as distinctive self-conscious emotion as well as on humiliation as a dynamic of social aggression. I also work on the study of the moral expectations that members of the majority group develop toward the stigmatized groups and the consequences that such expectations have for members of socially devalued groups.
